Even while God is merciful and patient with his children regularly due to his perfect holiness, there will come a time when his holiness will require him to exercise his authority over them and administer discipline. Because of his kindness and mercy for them, he always comes to restore and bless them. God will not only resume blessing, providing for, and protecting his chosen ones who have failed, but that he will even restore what was lost in the destruction brought on by their sin and disobedience. These are encouraging words for those who have been punished for their sins and feel that they will never be able to make amends. Rather than punishing us beyond what is required, our heavenly Father is a kind and forgiving father who longs to restore our relationship with him and the blessings we have received through his providence.
